Kanye West does not make a habit of brandishing those impressive pearly whites of his.
Just yesterday the world expressed shock, and joy, at a rare glimpse of a disarming smile from the hit rapper as he sat courtside at a basketball game (however, he quickly reverted to his default scowl when he realised he was being filmed - see vine below).
And today photos have landed of the 37-year-old in full, unabashed grin mode as he collects an honourary PhD from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Although he appeared as serious as ever during the presentation, afterwards he grinned like a Cheshire cat and took to the podium to poke fun at himself.
"I am a pop artist," he said. "So my medium is public opinion and the world is my canvas. 'I’m sorry' is something that you can use a lot, it gives you the opportunity to give your opinion, apologise for it, and give you opinion again.
"You should not be sorry for your opinions!"
His voluptuous other half, wife Kim Kardashian, was not present, but tweeted her support, "Dr. Kanye West!!!!!!! I'm so proud of you baby & I know your mom would be so proud too!!!!"
Poor Kanye West. His life appears to be a constant struggle to be heard, to be understood, to wade through the world's collective ignorance and have us accept that he is an artistic genius whose opinion trounces all others, even a Grammy panel of 150 music experts.
