Singer Michele McGrath has said her nights out on the town "are few and far between" - because she has to mind her voice.

The brunette has spent the last few months recording an EP with fellow singers Leanne Moore and Kim Hayden for their girl band, Liir.

"I'm not hosting in Buck Whaley's as much anymore and I'm not out a lot either - it's not worth it the next day," she told the Herald.

"I just have to really, really mind my voice - and alcohol wouldn't be the best for that.

"Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy a glass of wine. I was out last weekend, but the days of being in a nightclub until three in the morning are far behind me," she added.

While she took a break from the stage last Christmas, Michele has been cast in the Beauty and the Beast panto at the Tivoli Theatre.

"I am really delighted to be playing Belle, it's one of my favourite stories," she said.

"The band will have some time off over Christmas, so I'm really excited about doing the panto again.

"Then in the new year we'll be releasing some new tracks. We can't wait for everyone to hear them."

Speaking of their upcoming release, Michele says she thinks their sound will "surprise people". "I don't think it's what people will be expecting," she added.

The Cheerios Panto Beauty and The Beast will run at the Tivoli Theatre Dublin from December 11 to January 10.
