'I've been around the block a bit, I knew it was coming' - X Factor winner Sam Bailey on being dropped by Syco
Sam Bailey has revealed she was expecting to be dropped by Simon Cowell's label Syco before it actually happened.
Bailey (37) won The X Factor in 2013 and her despite a number on debut single and album, she was dropped last weekend after just 14 months.
Her single was the highest-selling X Factor winner's single since Alexandra Burke's 'Hallelujah' but she told Lorraine Kelly on her show that she was still expecting to be dropped.
“I’m not silly, I’ve been around the block a bit, I kind of knew it was coming," she said.
However, she's not going to ditch her music career and said she plans on recording her own original songs rather than covers.
“I want to be recognised as an artist that’s going to write some songs, which is kind of what I’m doing," she said.
"As soon as the tour has finished I’m in the studio writing some songs so it’s onwards and upwards.”
The mum of three also has acting ambitions: "I’d like to do some acting, no-one off The X Factor has ever done any sort of acting."
Shortly after Sam won the X Factor she revealed she was pregnant with her third child with husband Craig and she gave birth to a baby girl in December.
Following her split with Syco, she told The Sun, "I'm happy I got my house extension. That's what I entered the competition for."
