'I missed my holiday to get a ticket' - fans celebrate bagging tickets for U2's Dublin gig as extra Belfast date added
U2 have announced a second Belfast date on the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour 2018.
A second and final show will take place on October 28 with tickets on sale from February 9.
Fans took to Ticketmaster online and at outlets from 9am this morning in the hopes of bagging tickets to one of the four Dublin shows on November 5, 6, 9 and 10.
Prices started at €40.50 and sold out quickly while more expensive packages from €625 per ticket are still available (at time of publication).
Many fans made the trek to the 3Arena to secure their tickets.
Tamara de Paula from Brazil was among fans who bought tickets in person at Dublin’s 3Arena this morning revealed she had missed a getaway to get her tickets.
“I should be lying on a beach right now, I have missed my holiday to get a ticket. I am really excited," she said.
Second in line was Gregory Fitzsimons, who secured tickets for his 79th U2 show,
“I am also going to the first show in Tulsa. I’ve seen them play in LA, Boston, Connecticut. I even flew home early from honeymoon so I could fly out to Madison Square Garden. My wife still hasn’t forgiven me," he said.
Another fan Patricia van der Velde added “I live in Ireland because of U2, I moved here because of them because I am such a fan. My husband is even from Cedarwood Road!"
And Montse Fraga, who attended her first U2 gig in 1993 said “There is still the same buzz, perhaps even more now, I am so excited”.
For those disappointed this morning, there may be other opportunities to buy tickets at a reasonable price. Often the venue will release last minute tickets on the day of the concert, once they figured out the configuration of the venue.
U2 will return to Dublin just over a year after they wowed Croke Park with The Joshua Tree Tour 2017.
