Ronan Keating's teenage daughter secretly auditioned for a spot on The Voice UK - thinking her celebrity father would disapprove.

18-year-old aspiring actress and model Missy Keating had formed a band called GGMK which was eventually selected to audition for a spot on the popular music talent show.

But she kept it secret from her dad - lead singer with boyband Boyzone - and her mother, former model Yvonne Keating.

When it turned out that they had made it to the preliminary round of auditions in London, it turned out her initial fears were unfounded.

"It was my little brother's christening and I thought I'd do it on a day where dad was in a good mood. I made sure there were lots of people around," she recalled.

"We were in the kitchen, all the family and friends were there.

"I said, 'Oh my gosh, dad. I forgot to tell you, I got through to The Voice UK'." He responded with a stunned "What?", she said.

"And he had to take a second. And after that, he was like, 'I'm really proud of you, that's amazing'."
