Is there nothing David Hasselhoff cannot do?

Not according to the man himself, who has revealed he is recording heavy metal music for his new album.

The Hoff (66) is best known for his acting prowess on 80s and 90s TV series Knight Rider and Baywatch - he also produced the first run of the latter - and in recent years he's seen something of a resurgence of his career on reality TV whether it's judging America's Got Talent, Britain's Got Talent, or taking part in the US version of Dancing with the Stars.

Running parallell to his acting and TV career, however, is his music career, which kicked off in the 80s with his album Looking for Freedom.  It hit number one in the German charts in 1989 and he has since recorded 13 studio albums, has featured on eight compilations, and 45 singles.

By the mid-noughties his fans tried to get Looking for Freedom to the top of the UK music charts through internet dowloads.  When the focus moved to Jump in my Car, they managed to get the track to number three in October 2006, his highest ever UK entry.

More recently he featured on the soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, and now he's dabbling in heavy metal, because he can.

Speaking to German website Zeit, he said, "I'm doing some heavy metal songs on my new album. Why not?"

He said he does not have an album title yet, but in relation to the music, he added, "I do everything. Because I can. Because I want it."
