It's official - Rory McIlroy will take to the stage with One Direction on September 12 in Massachusetts.
The five month lead in will give the world number one golfer a chance to brush up on his vocals and dance moves.
"Apparently he's terrible", Niall Horan told The Sun.
Niall is getting his own back on Rory after he fell while caddying for the Co Down golfer at the US Masters. Not only that but he also hit a ball into a water hazard on the ninth tee.
And now the date has been set for Rory's counter-humiliation.
Given Zayn Malik's recent departure from the band there's a spot ready and waiting for Rory to fill, even if it's for one night only.
And his debut is officially slated for the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on 12 September when he'll appear on stage with the remaining four - Niall, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Liam Payne.
“He’s allowed to pick the song, that was part of the deal,” Niall told The Sun. And yes, sadly, this is a one-off. For now.
“If I went on the bag with him he would come on stage and sing with us. Apparently he’s terrible.”
Speaking at the US Masters, Rory reportedly said, ""They're playing in Boston at the end of the summer when I'm there and I'm going to have to get on stage ad maybe sing a few lines so I'm not looking forward to that.
"It's been a great afternoon and he's been a great sport for doing it. I stuck him with a big bag for the first nine holes, I think he was expecting something lighter."
Of his dodgy shot, Niall tweeted, "I've been lucky enough to do some pretty amazing things, but that's gotta be up there huh? Loved it"
"Also, can't say I've ever been so nervous in my life than when Rory handed me that golf club, horrendous shot!"
It remains to be seen how One Directioners will respond to Rory's infiltration of their beloved boy band.
The ultimate expression of erotic narcissism for a pop star is possibly making love to one of their own records. Mercifully, Sharleen Spiteri - perhaps because she is a Glasgow born and bred - is not that sort of pop star. . . Be that as it may, the 47-year-old beauty recalls a fan once coming up to her and announcing, apropos of nothing, that Barbara Streisand's music is "really good to go down on someone to. And then he actually used the word 'cunnilingus'," she laughs.
