Kodaline have cancelled their upcoming mainland Europe tour dates because they need to return to the studio to work on new ideas.

In a statement posted on Twitter this evening the band said they are "gutted" to announce the cancellations.

"We've been working harder than ever on our third album and could not be prouder of what we've created so far," the statement says.

"But we feel there's more to come. We haven't stopped writing all summer but we need to head back into the studio over the coming months to work on the ideas we have. We feel it's worth the wait and hope you guys do too."

The 2018 tour dates will be rescheduled for 2018.
