Grammys 2015: Hozier loses out on Song of the Year but wows with roof-raising duet with Annie Lennox
What a night it has been for Hozier at the 57th annual Grammy Awards as he wows with a roof-raising duet with the legendary Annie Lennox.
The 24-year-old musician from Bray took to the stage with the 60-year-old Scottish star to sing Hozier's hit 'Take Me to Church' as well as Lennox's 'I Put a Spell On You' to rousing applause.
The performance earned the duo a standing ovation and a plethora of 'best performance of the night' declarations on Twitter.
The Bray artist was in the running for Song of the Year for 'Take Me to Church' but was up against stiff competition from Meghan Trainor for All About That Bass, Sia's Chandelier, Taylor Swift for Shake it Off, and Sam Smith for Stay With Me. Smith eventually won the award.
Lennox recently said she had to be convinced at first to perform with him.
I wasn't quite seeing it, initially," she told USA Today. "I said, when we get into a room together, we're going to know if it works."
"I think he was a little nervous, to be honest with you. I'm always a little bemused by that, because I'm really not anybody to be afraid of."
However, the 24-year-old showed no sign of nerves on stage at the Grammys and more than held his own.
