'Can't quite put it into words' - Hozier soars to number one on Billboard's top 200 chart in the US with new album
Hozier has debuted at the number one spot on the top 200 Billboard chart in the US, making him one of the few Irish artists to achieve such immediate success for a second album.
His sophomore album WASTELAND, BABY! surpassed his critically acclaimed debut album which launched at number two in the US charts. The 28-year-old, from Bray, Co Wicklow, thanked his team for helping him with the achievement, writing on Twitter: "Can't quite put it into words. Thank you, so so much to the fans for this #1. This is handmade, homemade music and your support of that is everything. Thank you to my incredible team @ColumbiaRecords, @Rubyworks. Thank you to @CarolineAtMCD and Denis Desmond! #wastelandbaby."
The 14-track LP has been positively reviewed across the board and his American achievement complements his number one status in Ireland. He began his tour in Buffalo, New York, on Sunday night and will travel across Nashville, Austin, Los Angeles and Washington for a series of sold-out concerts before wrapping in April.
He will also perform at a number of festival dates in the US and will tour Ireland and the UK this summer, including five shows at the London Palladium, Independent Park, Cork on 25th June 2019 and Belsonic Festival, Belfast on 27th June 2019.
