The rumours were true - Blur will headline Electric Picnic alongside Florence & The Machine, Roísín Murphy and Underworld.

The British band have just gone straight to number one in the Irish album charts on Friday and they'll be hitting Stradbally to promote The Magic Whip in September.

Blur's Alex James recently told the Irish Independent, "I really, really hope we get to play Ireland on this record. We're not going to do too many shows and we want to keep them special."

Also announced today for the festival running September 4-6 are:

James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem has collaborated with 2manydjs to bring DESPACIO to Stradbally.  These iconic names in the electronica music scene will have their very own tent with a PA system which the trio designed themselves.

They'll curate 6-8 hours, sharing the work in the booth, playing only vinyl and focusing on the picknickers' experience of the set.
