Murs backs Ora to be X Factor judge
X Factor's new host Olly Murs has said that Rita Ora would be a great addition to The X Factor as a judge.
The Poison singer is hotly tipped to join the judging panel of the ITV show following her stint on rival BBC show The Voice, with the show's supremo Simon Cowell expected to announce the final line-up shortly.
At Capital's Summertime Ball with Vodafone, Murs said: "I'll be honest. I think Rita would be a good one because she's done The Voice."
Bookmakers William Hill has suspended betting on the X Factor judges following a run of bets on Ora. The 24-year-old's odds fell from 5/2 to 4/6 before the market was suspended at 10.20am this morning.
"We saw a similar gamble shortly before Dannii Minogue joined the panel and it looks like Rita has got the job," said spokesman Rupert Adams.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is tipped to return to her seat, alongside BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, Cowell and Ora.
Murs, who is taking over from Dermot O'Leary to co-host the show with his Xtra Factor presenter Caroline Flack, appeared to confirm Ora would be joined by Grimshaw on the panel when he added: "She's got a great personality, she's fun and I think her and Grimmy get on well."
The 31-year-old Troublemaker singer said he cannot wait to step into O'Leary's shoes and present the main show, after presenting the ITV2 spin-off show in 2011 and 2012. He quit the role in the 2013 series to focus on his music, and was replaced by Matt Richardson.
"I'm buzzing. I can't wait. I've been working really hard this year, focusing on the music and touring so it's going to be a nice end to the year, to get back in to do the hosting and the presenting," he said.
"I've got a really exciting next six months coming up. It's slightly different doing the main show but I actually think it's going to be less work for me so I can't wait to see what's happening.
"It's all been up in the air with the judges, what the format's going to be like so it's going to be really exciting. We go to work in July but the auditions have been happening."
Murs, who is dating model Francesca Thomas, also brushed off rumours of any romance with Flack.
"I'm a flirty guy regardless. We have great chemistry, it wasn't just about flirting. We get on really well and we're best mates off camera," he explained.
"It's going to be really amazing to work together and be a part of such a great show."
He has claimed to be in the dark over the new judging panel, saying: "I've been quizzing everyone to try to find out who's doing it. I was with Robbie Williams a few weeks ago and tried to get him to do it but he wouldn't."
Murs added: "We want people who are going to be fun on the panel with big, strong personalities and opinions so I'm hoping Simon will get the right team."
