Most misheard song lyrics revealed
REM track The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite contains the most misheard lyrics, according to a poll.
A survey, published in The Daily Telegraph, discovered that four out of 10 people admitted mistaking the line "Call me when you try to wake her" for "Calling Jamaica".
Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze also sparked confusion in second place, with the line "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" confused for "excuse me while I kiss this guy".
Aerosmith's "Dude looks like a lady" from the song of the same name came third, with the lyric confused for "Do just like a lady" while, in fourth place, The Foundations' "Build me up buttercup" from the song with the same title gets mistaken for "Fill me up buttercup".
A spokesman for Cerumol Olive Oil Ear Drops, which carried out the survey of 3,000 people, said: "Some of the misheard lyrics in this poll are really quite amusing. When you finally find out the true meaning of a song after singing it incorrectly for years it can be quite satisfying, although you may feel a bit foolish".
Abba's Dancing Queen features twice in the top 20, with people mistaking "Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine" for "Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tangerine".
The 1976 classic also prompts confusion with "See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancing queen" misheard for "see that girl, watch her scream, kicking the dancing queen".
