Sarah McLachlan has announced she will be releasing her first new album in seven years.

The Grammy award-winning Canadian songstress, who put her musical career on hold after becoming mum to daughters India and Taja, will release the "uptempo" Laws Of Illusion on June 28, with single Loving You Is Easy preceding it on June 14.

"I write slowly and have two kids, that's the most honest answer - everything sort of fell apart for me personally a couple of years ago, and it's sort of a long, slow road coming back and redefining myself," she said.

She will also be hitting the road for the Lilith Tour. The all-women festival, founded by Sarah, will feature performances by Mary J Blige, Sheryl Crow, Kelly Clarkson, Erykah Badu, Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae and Kesha, with UK dates to be announced soon.
