London Grammar singer Hannah Reid has admitted she still gets nervous about performing gigs.

The ambient trio introduced themselves and their music via two almost anonymous tracks posted online late last year.

Their first proper release, an EP called Metal And Dust, appeared in February, not long after they'd played their first gig in front of assembled members of the music industry.

Hannah said of bandmate Dan Rothman: "It took meeting Daniel for me to be able to do it, he really pushed for me to sing live with him. I get very nervous, but I've been trying to overcome that.

"When I sing it always goes relatively OK, if not really well, so at the back of my mind I know I'll be fine.

"Every time we play, the audience is really supportive too and halfway through I wonder what I was scared of. The next gig though, I get really scared again."

The band performed in London this year shortly after putting a video of Hey Now, the opening track of their forthcoming debut album If You Wait, online. It's since been viewed on YouTube almost 900,000 times.

"Because of that the gig was full of industry people," Hannah said. "Radio 1 were there, people from different labels, journalists and so on, and I knew we were being watched by the sorts of people who could really affect our career. If it was to go badly, well there wouldn't be a career, that was the thing.

"We rehearsed a lot, and it went really, really well, but it was so nerve-racking and the pressure was incredible."

The band have performed at Glastonbury, enjoyed a top 40 single and an album that's expected to go top 10 and had a guest appearance on Disclosure's album Settle, which went to number one.

:: London Grammar's debut album, If You Wait, is released on Monday, September 9 and they begin a UK tour on October 15.
