Singer Lana del Rey is among the acts shortlisted for MTV's annual Brand New award honouring the newcomers most likely to make it big in the coming year.

The US star, who charted with single Video Games in October, is one of nine acts to have made the grade.

Also featuring in the list are acts such as Angel, Charli XCX and Clement Marfo & The Frontline, with a further unsigned act to be added in January.

The award nominees have previously included Lady Gaga, Tinie Tempah, Adele and Florence + The Machine, shortly before they had huge hits.

An overall winner will be announced on February 1 following a public vote in the award staged by MTV UK and Ireland.

The full list of nominees announced today is: Lana Del Rey, Clement Marfo & The Frontline, Michael Kiwanuka, Delilah, Conor Maynard, King Charles, Charli XCX, Lianne La Havas and Angel.
