Lady Gaga opens up on drugs past
Lady Gaga has claimed she took drugs in a bid to become a tortured artist like great music legends and style icons.
The 24-year-old singer, who has previously spoken of her battle against cocaine addiction, told Rolling Stone magazine that looking back on that part of her life "petrifies" her, but it was part of her "artistic journey".
She said: "I've come a really long way, and I have my friends to thank for that, and I have God."
She continues: "It really freaks me out - or, should I say, it petrifies me - when I think about laying in my apartment in New York with bug bites from bedbugs and roaches on the floor and mirrors with cocaine everywhere."
The Bad Romance singer - real name Stefani Germanotta - also broke down in tears during the interview as she revealed she is still in love with a heavy metal drummer she dated in New York.
She said: "I've never really loved anyone like I loved him. Or like I love him."
Gaga confided when he ended the relationship it was a huge turning point in her life.
She said: "I sort of resolved that if you can't have the guy of your dreams, there are other ways to give love."
