Anthony Kiedis has revealed becoming a dad helped him steer clear of drink and drugs.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman and his ex-girlfriend Heather Christie are proud parents to three-year-old son Everly Bear, named after one of Anthony's favourite groups The Everly Brothers.
The rocker, who gave up drugs and alcohol in 2000, told The Sun: "As every heroin addict will know, temptation is always there. But becoming a father has given me a reason to live and stay clean for good."
He added: "Every day since has been a battle to stay clean, but my son makes me thankful that I am. I feel very lucky."
The Red Hot Chili Peppers - who formed nearly 30 years ago - are returning with new album I'm With You, and Anthony credits his son with the new-found energy on the record.
He said: "Having Everly has changed my life. You can hear the new energy I have, we have, on the new album."
