John Mayer joked to fans at London's Hard Rock Cafe about getting someone pregnant.
The Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter - who has had high-profile relationships with Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson - gave a rambling speech as baffled fans looked on, as he played an exclusive acoustic set for Sony Ericsson Presents Q The Music Club Live.
"Somebody's going to get pregnant tonight, I can make it happen anywhere," he said.
John - who performed crowd-pleasing hits from his new album, Battle Studies, and classics such as Belief, Daughters and Free Fallin - blamed jetlag for his comments.
"I'm a bit jetlagged, but jetlag is good for music, not for brain surgery. I'm feeling vibey tonight," he said.
"It took me eight years to come back to the UK and have a really great time," he added.
He embarks on a UK tour from January 15, with dates in Manchester, London, Glasgow and Wolverhampton.
