Jedward’s band manager resigns as twins hit 21
JEDWARD’S right-hand-man Liam McKenna waited until after the twins’ 21st birthday to resign as their tour manager.
The former Six singer (28), who has been at the boys’ side through their meteoric rise, sent a short email to X Factor judge Louis Walsh confirming he was handing in his notice.
Liam’s resignation comes after two and- a-half hectic years working and travelling with the pair.
Confirming the news, he said: “I had no idea what I was letting myself in for when I took the job but it’s been a rollercoaster two and-- a-half years.
“I’m excited about the future and I wish John and Edward continued success.”
Liam will continue working with Louis Walsh Management as he flies over to the X Factor every weekend to assist the Mayo manager.
He is also due to begin a new job in 2013 and may possibly move permanently to the UK to pursue other opportunities.
A source revealed how he wanted to wait until after the twins celebrated their milestone birthday as he knew it would come as a shock to them.
“They spent a long time working together and Liam was with them from the very start, right from the early days when they were only finding their feet,” said a source.
“Of course they had gotten close over the years but it was just time for Liam to move on to a new challenge.
“He wishes them nothing but the best for the future and had a great time working with them.
“Liam has made lots of good contacts working at things like the X Factor and really wants to try something new.”
A familiar face to Jedward’s legions of fans, Liam even costarred in anITV2 documentary made about the twins.
Entitled Jedward Let Loose, it was filmed shortly after they first found fame and showed Liam trying to teach them basic life skills – which included how to use a fridge.
John and Edward’s mother Susanna will now be taking care of the twins in the wake of Liam’s departure as she helps juggle their hectic schedule.
They’ll be treading the boards in the Christmas panto in the Olympia this December with tickets to see Jedward and the Magic Lamp selling fast
They have also filmed a second series of the hit RTE show Jedward’s Dream Factory where they help make fans’ wishes come true.
Musically, they recently garnered lots of attention with their own inimitable version of Adele’s monster hit, Skyfall, which she recorded for new James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig.
