A SOMBRE-looking Jedward were consoled by extended family and friends last night following the death of their grandfather.

The popstar duo took a break this week from their Eurovision preparations to bid farewell to James Grimes (88), who died in a Limerick nursing home on Monday.

John and Edward Grimes arrived at Griffin's Funeral Home in Limerick city for last night's removal at 5.15pm.

Both had their hair brushed down and wore matching black suits, white shirts and black ties. Inside, they greeted sympathisers with their father John.

The twins were said to be very close to their grandfather. The funeral Mass of Mr Grimes takes place today at St Munchin's Church in Limerick city.
