News of the week: Vinyl continues to re-surge
Did anyone really expect this trend to continue to this level? It was announced that sales of vinyl album is going to surpass a million copies in the UK this year, already more than the entire sales amount in 2013.
800,000 vinyl albums were sold in the UK so far in 2014. It's the highest figure since 1996. For comparative purposes, in 2013, UK sales in CD albums were just over 60 million and digital album downloads totalled 32.6 million in volume. CD sales have been declining for the last few years, falling from 112 million in 2009. Digital sales continue to rise but vinyl sales continues to rise dramatically. In 2009, the total number of vinyl sales was just over 200,000.

Pixies – Doolittle
The classic indie-rock band may have been making people question their legacy with recent lacklustre new material but Doolittle, the band's seminal and still-great album is getting the deluxe anniversary treatment as it hits 25 years of age.
On November 28th, a new version of the album, Doolittle 25 -will be released which will feature B-sides, Peel Sessions and demos, with nearly half of the tracks unreleased to now. It'll be on released on 3CDs, gatefold double vinyl and there'll be 50 tracks total. A good Christmas present for any fan of guitar music basically.
