'Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey': Jon Bon Jovi proves internet death hoax wrong
ROCKER Jon Bon Jovi is alive and well - despite widespread internet rumours to the contrary.
The 49-year-old singer was forced to upload photographic proof that he is still alive to his Facebook and Twitter pages after speculation spread like wildfire through social media that he had died.
A website called "dailynewbloginternational" had reported that Bon Jovi died in New Jersey during a world tour.
The Los Angeles Times pointed out that many of the sentences appeared to be copied from its story on the death of Michael Jackson but emphasised the paper was not involved in the false report.
Sticking to Mark Twain’s old adage that rumours of his demise had been greatly exaggerated, he took the bogus news in his stride.
And in response he published on Facebook and Twitter a photograph of himself in front of his Christmas tree. In the picture he is holding a sign that says "Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey – Dec. 19th 2011 6:00".
"Jon Bon Jovi" was trending on Twitter in sixth position at one point last night.
Celebrity death hoaxes have been reported on social media repeatedly in recent years with everyone from Jeff Goldblum to Miley Cyrus affected.
