Hear me roar? Katy Perry suffers another embarrassing stage incident with botched miming
It’s every showbiz star’s worst nightmare – your mouth is moving but the wrong words are coming out.
Katy Perry suffered a second embarrassing incident this week as a video of her disastrous performance at the NRJ Awards in Cannes on Saturday night has gone viral.
The singer performed her hit single ‘Roar’ at the 15th annual awards, but the lip movements and the lyrics were not even close to being in sync.
Perry struggled as she remained a full few seconds behind the playback, creating an awkward situation for everyone involved.
The ‘Roar’ singer paused as an official hops on stage, kisses her hand and said, “If you don’t mind, we can restart. We had a little problem with the sound.
“I’m sorry to stop all your energy — I prefer you to be the best.”
The official then counted down for Perry to start singing again. This time she sang live.
NRJ Awards have since taken the blame for the incident, releasing a statement that read; “Katy Perry sang live during the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes on Saturday night, but unfortunately a bad soundtrack was accidentally launched, taking over the live performance of Katy at the beginning of the delivery tube of the ‘Roar. TF1 and NRJ present their apologies to Katy Perry … for this technical problem beyond our control.”
The incident comes as Perry received criticism on social media following her live performance on Sunday night’s X Factor final.
