Girls steal the show as Oasis forced to desert V Festival
Oasis were forced to cancel their appearance headlining Virgin Media's V Festival last night, when lead singer Liam Gallagher was diagnosed with viral laryngitis.
Snow Patrol stepped in to headline the main stage at Hylands Park.
A spokesperson said: "After a year of being on the road, this is the first performance to be lost to a band member's illness, so naturally we are all completely gutted. Liam is resting up and should be fine to resume the tour next Friday in Paris."
Other acts at yesterday's festival included Lily Allen, who asked the audience for the score from the final Ashes Test.
The 24-year-old singer wore denim hot-pants, a revealing black vest and towering black stilettos to show off her tan.
Elsewhere at the festival, Jade Goody's widower Jack Tweed was spotted enjoying the hospitality bar in the Absolute VIP area with a group of male friends.
Amy Winehouse made a surprise return to live performing when she appeared on stage with The Specials, and later with Pete Doherty. Security guards asked Winehouse to move, but she stayed until Doherty dedicated a song to her. She kissed Doherty on the mouth and afterwards they ran off stage arm-in-arm.
