From Boom to bust for Bob Geldof as gigs called off
BOB Geldof may be forced to cut short his reunion tour with the Boomtown Rats after a number of concert dates in Australia were cancelled.
The Dublin-born rocker, who last performed with the 70s band over 30 years ago, is due to reunite with original members Pete Briquette, Simon Crowe and Garry Roberts for a tour Down Under next month.
But poor ticket sales are understood to have forced promoters to pull the plug on the bulk of the upcoming gigs, including ones in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.
Last night Ticketek.com was offering refunds to fans. However, shows in Perth and Sydney will still go ahead. The band is also one of the headline acts at the Isle Of Wight festival on June 16 and will play Cork's Marquee venue on July 5.
