Foo Fighter Grohl to direct film
Dave Grohl is swapping his microphone for a camera to direct a new film.
The Foo Fighters rocker will also produce the feature documentary Sound City, about the California recording studio of the same name, which he first recorded at during his Nirvana days.
Grohl - who had a cameo in last year's Muppets movie - told Variety the studio was "witness to history" since it opened in the late 60s.
He added: "Sound City is a film about America's greatest unsung recording studio. Deep in California's sun-burnt San Fernando Valley, it was the birthplace of legend."
Sound City will include performances and interviews with artists and producers, and will take a look at the studio's albums and use of technology.
