Florence Welch has admitted how she switched off the TV - because she couldn't stand listening to her own music.

Tracks like Dog Days Are Over and Rabbit Heart from her debut album Lungs began appearing on a number of television adverts, which made the flame-haired singer - aka Florence And The Machine - turn off immediately.

"It seemed like there was an advert with my music on every two seconds a little while ago - I couldn't turn on the TV; it was like 'Aaargh' every time I switched it on," she told The Sun.

Florence - who has received three Brit nominations - is surprised her album with songs about death, heartbreak and coffin-making would have such a warm reception.

"It's a very strange album," she said.

"I was shocked that it did so well because it was a real labour of love for me. It's an extreme record and all the songs are pretty different from one another. It's so strange that so many people have ended up listening to it."
