Everything you need to know ahead of Live at the Marquee
What's on, what's sold out, and what's the story with security
Live at the Marquee kicks off in Cork today and we have the lowdown on what's on, what's sold out, and what's the story with security...
It's the 12th year of the Marquee which kicks off with Picture This tonight and wraps up with Christy Moore on July 14.
Unfortunately, several high profile gigs have already sold out, including Picture This tonight and tomorrow night and Eddie Vedder, with support from Glen Hansard, on Sunday.
The first of 2FM's Live with Jenny Greene and the RTE Concert Orchestra next Saturday (June 17) has also sold out but there are still limited tickets available for the following night.
Elton John and his band is sold out for Tuesday June 20 as are Walking on Cars and The Coronas on Monday 16 and Friday 30 respectively.
However, there are still tickets available for elbow next Wednesday June 21. It follows their last sold out appearance in June 2014 and the release of their seventh studio album Little Fictions earlier this year.
Cliff Richard is supported by musical theatre group Collabro for his date on Thursday June 15. Fans of Britain's Got Talent will remember them as the impressive 2014 winners and they've just released their third studio album Home, a collection of stage classics and their first original song, Lighthouse.
The brilliant Gavin James, meanwhile, plays Friday July 7 following an incredible year which saw his debut album Bitter Pill reach top 5 and him supporting artists including Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran at Croke Park.
“I can’t wait to return to the Marquee," he said. "Last year was amazing, it was my biggest headline ever at that time, I’m so delighted to be coming back!”
Craig Gallagher will be supporting Gavin on the night.
Country fans can catch Nathan Carter supported by Jake Carter / Ruaile Buaile on Saturday July 8 while Frankie Calli and The Four Seasons play the previous Thursday, July 6.
The final week of the series sees Emeli Sandé take to the stage on Monday July 10 on the back of her album Long Live the Angels, which achieved the biggest week one sales for a British female solo artist last year.
Here she is giving a stunning performance of Hurts at the BRIT Awards earlier this year:
Emeli is followed by Bryan Adams on July 11 and the legendary Christy Moore on Friday July 14.
Comedy-wise Al Porter will be bringing his At Large show to the Marquee on Friday June 16 and Tommy Tiernan brings Under the Influence on Saturday June 24.
Security-wise concert goers are asked not to bring backpacks or large bags to the venue and there will be pat down searches in operation on entry.
Tickets from Ticketmaster.
