SLANE Castle is to be the setting for two major concerts next year after it was announced Eminem will play the historic venue next August.

Having once vowed that the rapper would never get a date at Slane again, after pulling out of a concert in 2005, owner Lord Henry Mountcharles confirmed last night that the artist will headline a show for 80,000 people on August 17 next year.

That will be just two months after American rock band Bon Jovi play the same open air venue on June 15.

Asked if cash-strapped concert-goers had the money to attend two Slanes in 2012, Lord Henry Mountcharles told the Irish Independent: "We're keeping the ticket price for both shows to below €80."
