Eminem set for MTV Global Icon gong
US rapper Eminem is set to be honoured with the Global Icon prize at the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards.
The Slim Shady star, who is celebrating the success of his latest album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, will receive the gong in person at Sunday's ceremony at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.
The show's executive producer Bruce Gillmer said: "Eminem has sold over 80 million records worldwide and his new album is shattering records. He is one of the most creative, unique and pioneering artists of our time."
He hinted the hip-hop star may perform on the night, saying: "He is on the way to this fine city right now as we speak. There will be lots of surprises."
Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Snoop Dogg, Miley Cyrus and Kings Of Leon are on the bill to perform at the star-studded ceremony, which will be hosted by LMFAO's Redfoo.
The flamboyant singer, whose real name is Stefan Kendal Gordy, joked he will have many outfits like previous EMA hosts Heidi Klum and Selena Gomez.
"I have to go to rehearsals for the costume changes," he said.
Redfoo said he won't steal anyone's thunder: "I want everybody to shine and do their stuff. But I've got the mic and the secret wiggle and hopefully I'm funny."
Justin Timberlake and Macklemore And Ryan Lewis are leading the EMA nominations, with each act up for five awards.
The MTV EMAs are set to take place in Amsterdam on November 10.
