Ed Sheeran will return to the stage for the first time this year with a charity performance.

The Thinking Out Loud singer will perform at a fundraiser to be held in aid of East Anglia's Children's Hospices' (EACH) nook appeal.

The event will mark Sheeran's official return to performing since he announced he was taking a break from social media in December 2015.

He said: "As an ambassador of EACH, I am enormously proud and excited to be joining them for their gala dinner event at the Natural History Museum on November 30."

Organisers hope to raise the £10 million needed to build a new children's hospice in Norfolk.

Graham Butland, EACH chief executive, said: "We're absolutely thrilled Ed has agreed to take time out to support our inaugural EACH gala dinner.

"It promises to be wonderful evening where guests will enjoy a very unique performance from one of the world's most famous and talented musicians.

"The evening will raise funds for our vital nook appeal and we do still have a number of tickets and sponsorship opportunities available. I'd urge people to contact the team as soon as possible to avoid disappointment."

Posting on Instagram at the end of last year, Sheeran explained: "I'm taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while, I've had such an amazing ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.

"To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the third album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing."
