Foo Fighters and Nirvana legend Dave Grohl have revealed the band will headline Slane next Spring.
The rock star made the exclusive revelation to Rick O’Shea on RTÉ 2fm.
The Foo Fighters will headline the gig on May 30th 2015.
The former Nirvana drummer has been making music with The Foo Fighters for over two decades, and they have just released their eighth studio album.
Keen to pursue a different recording process for the new album ‘Sonic Highways’, their latest release features eight tracks recorded in eight different cities across America.
Each song is also accompanied by a documentary about the musical history of that city, with interviews from people like Dolly Parton and President Obama.
“The last Foo Fighters record we made we did it in my garage… I wanted to do something to challenge the band… I came up with the idea two years ago, but it’s just seeing the light of day now,” Grohl told 2fm hosts Rick O’Shea and Cormac Battle.
Battle excitedly revealed to Grohl that he used to record in his studio in the mid 1990s with his band Kerbdog.
“My DNA is in your studio,” he said.
“I’m going to call my cleaners and have them scrub the place!” Grohl retorted.
A listener, Emma, called the show to ask Grohl if he would perform at her upcoming wedding- promising sausage rolls, beer and whiskey in return.
“If I’m close enough I will,” he promised.
