FORMER XFactor winner Shayne Ward has said his “dreams have come true” as a result of a musical collaboration with Irish country singers Foster and Allen.

The popstar admitted he’s “getting a bit older” and is overjoyed to work with the music “legends”.

Ward has recorded two songs - The Galway Girl, and One Little Christmas Tree - with the country duo. He says he’s always been a fan of country music.

Shane said this morning: “Already my dreams have come true just working with these guys.”

He said he’d be honoured if Foster and Allen would allow him “to grace their stage” and perform the songs live together.

“I’m getting a bit older as well…these guys are legends to me, so sack it for everyone else (critics).”

“My parents and grandparents and ancestors were born in Ireland…country music has always played a big part in my life.

Foster and Allen told RTE Radio’s John Murray show that they had no fear of Shayne hitting the high notes, and they humbly said the English pop star was “a far better singer” than them.

“We knew he liked our music…and we had spoken a few times.”

“We got him over to the studio and we had a great few days putting the song together.”

Tony Allen said: “Shane’s a far better singer than either Mick or I…We knew that whatever we picked, he’d be more than able to handle it.”

“The biggest problem was trying to find somewhere to have lunch so you weren’t surrounded [by fans],” the duo joked.

Meanwhile Shayne admitted he feels like “a 70 year-old” with the range of classic songs on his iPod – from Patsy Cline, to the Bee Gees, to Glen Campbell.

Ward is now working on his fourth studio album.
