Turk's Head, Parliament Street, Dublin 2, tonight (free)

Friday night and the lights are low and it's also free into the Turk's Head to hear top-notch techno. The stars of the underground feature Alan Fitzpatrick, Dave Clarke's favourite Irish DJ Will Kinsella, Arte Artur & Nando PGM, Gabi Kardos and Mark Greene.

The Button Factory, Curved Street, Dublin 2, tomorrow (€7)

Hidden Agenda present house, disco and soul sensations Crazy P, who've been keeping happy punters grooving since the early 1990s. It must be said that the door tax is very reasonable. Hats off to the Button Factory for creating one of the best Saturday nights out in town.

Twisted Pepper, Middle Abbey Street, Dublin 1, tomorrow (€14/€15)

Every single time I play a little bit of Carl Craig out and about I get asked what the music is. Detroit's finest and most innovative techno talent is the undisputed gig of this weekend. Not to be confused with Craig Charles, who as it happens will be in town next weekend.

The Pavilion, Carey's Lane, Cork, Thursday (free)

Midnight Marauders is a weekly gathering of like-minded eclectic DJs, most of whom have mad names, that takes place in The Pavilion every Thursday. Walking Fishbones and Cack Jollins play everything from Lou Rawls to The Pointer Sisters to Moodymann.
