Childish Gambino announces headline gig at London’s O2 Arena
The star will also play at Lovebox this summer in the capital.
Childish Gambino has announced he will perform a major headline concert at London’s O2 Arena later this year.
The American recording artist, actor and producer – real name Donald Glover – will perform at the venue on November 4, in what is believed to be his biggest indoor gig in the UK to date.
The star will be accompanied by special guest R&B singer H.E.R at the concert, which will come after he headlines London’s Lovebox Festival in July.
Tickets for the concert will be on sale from June 29 at 9am, tour promoter Live Nation said.
The concert could be the last chance fans have to see him before he retires his stage name.
Glover, who has won two Emmy Awards for his TV series Atlanta and a Grammy, previously said he is ready to take a step away from his pseudonym.
Speaking at the Grammys in January, the 34-year-old said: “I’m making another project right now. But I like endings, I think they’re important to progress.
“I think if a lot of things had death clauses in them we wouldn’t have a lot of problems in the world, to be honest. I think endings are good because they force things to get better.”
Earlier this year, he scored his highest-ever charting single in the UK, number six, with the hard-hitting political track This Is America.
The video, which sees him take aim at his home country’s stance on gun laws, has been watched around 300 million times since it was released in early May.
He also recently appeared in Star Wars spin-off film Solo: A Star Wars Story as Lando Calrissian, and he will next appear in Disney’s forthcoming The Lion King, voicing Simba the lion.
