Carly Rae Jepsen was forced to cancel her appearance at an outdoor concert after it was hit by a thunder storm.

The Call Me Maybe singer was set to headline the Summer Kick Off Concert at Six Flags New England amusement park in Massachusetts, along with former UK X Factor stars Cher Lloyd and Little Mix.

The concert began, with early acts including Chris Wallace and Kat Graham, but it had to be called off half way through when the storm broke.

Carly posted pictures of blown over trees on Twitter and apologised to her fans writing: "Thunder storm just hit... Booooo! Show cancelled. See you next time New England."

Nashville pop rockers Hot Chelle Rae, who have been supporting Carly on tour, tweeted: "So sorry everyone! We're BUMMED that the show got cancelled. Promise we'll be back through here as always. Next time we'll sing extra loud."
