Bridget Jones musical dumps Lily
Lily Allen has revealed she has been dumped from the Bridget Jones musical.
The 29-year-old singer had penned songs for the planned stage show, based on Helen Fielding's hit novels about diary-writing singleton Bridget.
But Lily has now told The Sun: "I wrote some great music for it but Helen Fielding wants to go back and write a whole new story.
"It's been a long-term project and I was happy to do my bit but now I'm out of the picture."
The Bridget Jones books - about a single woman in her 30s trying to negotiate life and love - have already been made into two hit films starring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant.
Last year Helen published a third book, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, following Bridget as a widowed mother-of-two in her fifties.
The musical adaptation has been in the works since 2011, and award-winning actress and singer Sheridan Smith was previously tipped to play Bridget.
Sheridan previously said of Lily's songs: "They're very Lily, but she's just a genius, the girl is a genius. Her music and her lyrics are fantastic and they just work perfectly, I think."
But the Sheezus singer has apparently not been put off musicals, and told The Sun she is looking for another project to adapt.
She said: "I've had two companies come to me and say, 'Have you got ideas?'
"They want me to find a movie that I think could adapt well and I do have some ideas that I think would work. So my work may make it to the West End yet."
Lily - who has two young daughters aged two and one - is currently in America, where she will support Miley Cyrus on her Bangerz tour.
