Musician and producer Brian Eno will discuss the ecology of culture in a highlight event at the Radio Festival 2015.

Eno has been selected to deliver the annual BBC Music John Peel Lecture and will examine the complex of individuals and institutions engaged in culture, festival organisers said.

Former Roxy Music star Eno, best known as a pioneer of ambient music, said he has taken inspiration for his speech from the late radio host.

He said: "I'm honoured to be invited to do a talk in the name of John Peel, a man who had a profound effect on my musical life and indeed my becoming a musician at all.

"His career as a non-musician who altered the course of music has been an inspiration to me and forms the basis of this talk."

The festival will this year focus on how innovations in technology are transforming the way radio shows create content and serve audiences.

The three-day festival takes place at the British Library in London between Sunday September 27 and Tuesday September 29.
