Blaize lands film and record deal
Burlesque star Immodesty Blaize is turning movie star - and has also signed a record deal.
The glamorous performer, famed for her narrow waist - will be seen in cinemas from January in a film about the history of burlesque, and has also signed a deal with Parlophone Records, which is home to stars including Kylie Minogue and Coldplay.
In the film Burlesque Undressed Immodesty - who dresses in feathers, corsets and rhinestones - interviews figures from past and present who have been leading lights in the art form.
The star, who has appeared in videos and on-stage with chart act Goldfrapp, is joined by singer Marc Almond in the film.
Other burlesque figures including Dirty Martini and Kitten De Ville will appear in the movie, which is released on DVD following its cinema run.
Artist Sir Peter Blake, who is renowned for creating The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band sleeve, also appears. The pop artist has been inspired by dancers and wrote his thesis on burlesque while studying at the Royal College of Art.
