Bernie a 'better person' for cancer
Bernie Nolan said her battle with breast cancer has made her a "much better person".
The singer, who is due to have major surgery later this month, said it had also brought her closer to her husband, Steve Doneathy.
In an interview with Hello! magazine, Bernie said: "My oncologist said to me 'Cancer brings out the best in people'.
"At the time, I thought 'What a strange thing to say'. But I tell you, I'm a much better person for this cancer. I've learnt so much - it changes your outlook on life, definitely."
Bernie, who took a romantic trip to Paris ahead of her planned surgery, said she had always had a "strong relationship" with Mr Doneathy.
She said: "We're so much closer emotionally. I couldn't have done this without him. He's just the best thing that has ever happened to me."
And Mr Doneathy revealed his pride in his wife's battling qualities, saying: "She looks stunning.
"It's quite a statement, isn't it, having a bald head? When men shave their heads, it gives them a look of power and strength and I think that's what it's done for Bernie.
"Before, when her hair was tufty, she looked poorly, but the minute she shaved it, it was an amazing transformation."
