Barbra releases the scraps from her career
The back story behind this album is unlikely to fill would-be buyers with optimism.
Here are 11 tracks that were recorded at various stages of Streisand's career and were, in Barbra's view, too weak to be released originally.
Now, apparently, Babs has had a change of heart and feels the world really does need to hear her cast-offs.
Hard cash can't be the driving force for the multi-millionaire -- after all, she is currently charging an eye-watering $1,500 per ticket for certain US shows.
It's difficult to listen to some of these songs and not think of David Bowie's words when canvassed for his opinion on her version of his classic Life On Mars: "Bloody awful," he said.
"Sorry Barb, but it was atrocious."
And several of the offerings here really are that bad, chief among them her ghastly flirtation with bossa nova on the whimsical Lost in Wonderland.
Yet, there are nuggets of gold among the scraps, especially her beautiful take on Randy Newman's I Think It's Going to Rain Today from 1971.
That's the great man himself that you can hear on accompanying piano.
