Aerosmith will headline next summer's Download festival

Aerosmith are to play their first UK date for four years with a headline performance at next summer's Download festival.

The rock superstars' show will be the climax of the Sunday night line-up, rounding off the three-day event which takes place from June 13 to 15 at Donington Park.

Main support act on the Sunday will be Alter Bridge, and other acts for the annual rock event include Avenged Sevenfold, Rob Zombie and Linkin Park.

Aerosmith's Joe Perry said: "It's been too long since we've been to England and we're sincerely charged to be coming back."

The band have scored hits with tracks such as Walk This Way, Love In An Elevator and I Don't Want To Miss A Thing over a four-decade career.

Early-bird tickets are already available for the festival from www.downloadfestival.co.uk.
