Adele's Hello has achieved platinum status as it celebrates a third consecutive week at number one.

Hello, the fastest-selling song of the year and holder of the UK's one-week streaming record, was awarded the status by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) after gaining more than 600,000 sales in the three weeks since its release.

The track, her first from the upcoming album 25, racked up 34,000 more combined sales than this week's number two, Justin Bieber's Sorry, and was this week's most-streamed track with 4.7 million listens.

A new entry in third place is 2014's X Factor runner-up Fleur East with her debut single Sax.

This week's highest climber goes to WSTRN's In2, which rose 56 places to number four and was followed by MNEK & Zara Larsson's Never Forget You in fifth.

In the album chart, Elvis Presley's If I Can Dream was crowned number one for the second week.

The reworking of The King's classic songs with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra beat its first week tally with 88,600 combined sales, and landed the second biggest weekly chart sales of 2015 behind Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, who sold 89,110 copies of Chasing Yesterday in March.

In second place was Little Mix's third album Get Weird, while Ellie Goulding's third offering Delirium entered the charts at number three.

Rod Stewart's Another Country falls two places to four, while the top five is rounded off with a deluxe re-issue of The Beatles' album 1, which spent nine weeks at number one in 2000.

Ed Sheeran made chart history this week as his second album x became the longest reigning in the UK Top 10 for a British artist.

The album, which contains hits Sing and Thinking Out Loud, has remained in the UK charts for 73 consecutive weeks after being released in June 2014.

Sheeran said the year 2015 "is definitely going to be one to remember".

He added: "Wembley in the summer was such a big career highlight and now to hear that I've landed the longest run in the Top 10 for a British artist has really put the cherry on top. To all my brilliant fans - thank you!"

In July, Sheeran played to 240,000 over three nights at Wembley stadium.

His album has sold more than 10 million copies globally.

Celebrating the success of If I Can Dream, Elvis' former wife Priscilla Presley said: "I have been truly humbled by the reaction to this record in the UK.

"I know that Elvis always held the fans in the UK with great affection. He would have been thrilled with both this record and to know that, even now, he has so many fans on this side of the Atlantic."
