The Canadian singer's profile may have dipped in recent times, but she hasn't lost her ability to pen compelling songs as this short and, in places, slight 11th album illustrates.
Whether it's the Spectorish pomp of opener I Confess, or the country-tinged Sorrow Nevermore, lang remains a musician that doesn't lend herself to convenient pigeonholing.
The album's most arresting moment is a druggy version of Talking Heads' Heaven -- which finds lang adding some fairy dust to an already special song. David Byrne would surely approve.
