The New York dream-pop trio -- comprising Secret Machines' Ben Curtis and identical twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza -- were responsible for one of 2008's loveliest slow-burners, Alpinisms.

This second album enhances their reputation for delivering smart, multi-textured pop songs perfect for hot and lazy summer days. The girls' sweet voices will remind some of The Sundays, but there are more recent touchstones including Joy Zipper and Telepathe.

The gorgeous lead single, Windstorm, is a veritable "pocket symphony" -- to borrow a phrase from The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson -- while Heart is Strange is typical of how the band's less-is-more approach pays dividends.

A melodious, mellifluous offering, Disconnect from Desire will gently charm its way into your heart.

Burn it: Windstorm; Heart is Strange
