Music: Lost Where I Belong by Andreya Triana * * *
Skye Edwards's return to the Morcheeba fold this year has kept chill-out fans happy, but now there's a new kid in town. Londoner Andreya Triana has the sort of sweet, soulful vocals seemingly tailor-made for the sound systems of designer bars.
Her voice is expressive, and there's a plaintive, nocturnal quality about it that recalls the smoky jazz clubs of yore. Simon Green, aka DJ Bonobo, handles the production and he is careful not to smother her singing in superfluous arrangements.
Yet it is hard not to escape the notion that some of the songs don't serve her as well as they might -- there is a wallpaperish feeling to the album, particularly towards the end. When she's on surer ground, such as the ethereal Draw the Stars, Triana is onto a winner.
