Zac Efron: I needed to slow down
Zac Efron says he knew he had to 'slow down' his career.
Speaking at the LA premiere of his film Charlie St Cloud, the actor who shot to fame with High School Musical and Hairspray spoke about why he's opting for more interesting dramas these days.
"It's just something different. I just knew what I had to do personally and that was slow down and really do something that was a challenge," he explained on the red carpet.
"I wanted to do something that was really hard, see how far I can go," he said, before adding: "I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks."
The film, in which Zac deals with the death of his on-screen younger brother, presented some acting obstacles for the young star.
"For me it was really finding something to put behind that emotion, when I read the script I was like 'can I really pull this off? Can I get to that place?'," he said.
Zac says he whole-heartedly agrees with the movie's US tagline -"life is for living".
"It means live every day to the fullest. Life's an adventure, tackle it," he told reporters.
