June Whitfield has said Jennifer Saunders needs to get moving with the next Absolutely Fabulous - or the cast will be too old to take part.

Jennifer has previously revealed she is in the middle of writing a film version of t he hit BBC sitcom, which followed PR guru Eddie Monsoon and her magazine editor best friend Patsy, played by Joanna Lumley as they drank their way around London's trendiest parties while trying to cling onto their youth.

June, who is 88 and plays Eddie's mother, told the TV Times: "I'd leap at the chance to do it again. But you'd have to ask Jennifer.

"Joanna said to her recently, 'You'd better get on with writing one, or we'll all be too old by the time we get around to doing it.'"

Jennifer previously said she hopes to see the Ab Fab movie in cinemas by the end of 2015.

June stars in new BBC comedy Boomers, about a group of baby boomer couples in their sixties with a cast including Russ Abbot, Stephanie Beacham, Phillip Jackson and Allison Steadman.

June plays Stephanie Beacham's character's ageing mother.

She said: "Its not bad being in a wheelchair. It means I don't have to do a lot of standing."

But the actress is fighting fit in reality.

She revealed: "I took on a personal trainer two or three months ago just to keep moving. He makes me run up and down the stairs. For me, old age is just something that happens."
