Harry Potter fans could be jumping with joy, as rumours fly about a possible Quidditch movie.

Speculation was sparked after Warner Bros took out trademarks for JK Rowling's other Harry Potter spin-off books - Tales Of Beedle The Bard, Quidditch Through The Ages and its author, Quidditch expert Kennilworthy Whisp.

The film studio has also trademarked Quidditch teams Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons and Kenmare Kestrels, reported Collider.

It follows the development of a film based on the book Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, featuring a screenplay by Rowling in her screenwriting debut, which is already in the works.

The Hogwarts textbook, written by fictional author Newt Scamander, was featured in the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone. Set 70 years before Harry's story, Rowling has said it is neither a prequel or a sequel to the other stories.

As she announced the project on September 13, Rowling said: " I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it."

The author added: "It all started when Warner Bros came to me with the suggestion of turning Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them into a film. I thought it was a fun idea, but the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of Fantastic Beasts, realised by another writer was difficult. Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt."
